We are thrilled that you have decided to start using RS OEE for manual downtime registration!
This text will give you an insight of what to expect during your first 30 minutes of using the system.
The first thing you must do when starting RS Production for the first time is to follow the set-up wizard, which takes roughly five minutes.
You will be guided through the initial set-up of the system where you will configure the essential default settings, which of course can be changed later.
There are only a few things you will need to know or prepare before going through the set-up wizard; the name of your factory, the shift plan of the production units you will be measuring OEE on and maybe some stop reason codes, in case you don’t like our standard reason codes for production stops that is.
After completing the set-up wizard for manual stop registration, the system will be configured and ready to use.
RS Production works great on a computer as well as on a tablet.
When you have completed the set-up wizard you will be taken to the user dashboard.
Since this is your first time you using RS OEE you will run into some basic guided tours throughout the system. If you aren’t a fan of guided tours, fear not! The guided tours can of course be skipped.
The dashboard consists of different blocks and menu options. At the top you will see your measure points, if you click one of them you will be taken to the operator interface where you can manually register stops or look at the shift report.
The other blocks will be showing data that is interesting to you, and if you see something that you like you can follow that block, which means that it will always be visible when you open RS OEE. If you would happen to see something you do not find interesting, you can just tell the system that you would not like to see things like that in the future.

It is also from the dashboard that you can access the settings.
For now let’s start by looking at the stop registration in Operator tools, this is where the operators will let the system know when a stop has occurred, which is part of the of the calculation of the OEE.
Click on one of your measure points at the top of the dashboard to access operator interface.
Now it is time to start manually registering stop reasons.
To add a stop, just click the + symbol, the standard length is 10 minutes and if you want to add time to the stop either press the arrow up or down depending on which way you wish to extend the stop.
The standard length of stops for manual stop registration can be changed in the settings.
When the length of the stop is correct, click one the stop to select a reason code. If you wish to add a comment to the stop just press the speech bubble, comments are visible in selected reports.
In the operator interface you can also access the shift report, which is a continuously updated report for the current shift. There you can see, among other things, a break down of the OEE, shift information and a selection of stop reports.
Working with tabs
Besides the dashboard, the tabs will be your tool for accessing pages in the system.
To open a new tab press the + symbol, this will take you to the page selection menu, there you can access other pages in RS Production OEE.
Tabs can be pinned; this means that they will be saved so that you can access them when you log in the next time. To pin a tab, you just press the pin, and if you do not want it pinned any more just unpin it by pressing it again.
Open a new tab and click Standard reports to access the reports in RS Production OEE. Standard Reports will now be accessible from shortcuts in the RS Production OEE dashboard.
There is a wide selection of reports, it is up to you to find your favorites!
There are three main filters that are available in all reports. The first one is where you choose the time intervals, you can either choose relative time intervals or you can look at specific times and dates if you wish.
The two other filters are the data filters, which can be combined to find just what you are looking for.
In the example below we have combined a filter for measure point with a filter for the shift type to see which stops occurred during the previous days day shift.
In this example only the time interval filter and a grouping selection was used to show the measure points OEE value for the previous week.
Here are some examples of useful reports.
Let’s go back to the RS Production dashboard by clicking the left most tab that says RS Production. Click “Settings” in the menu to the right, here you can access all the settings of the system.
Here you can change all the settings which affect the OEE measurement as well as other configurations.
This first page you will see is My installation and this page gives you information about your installation, such as how many measure points licenses you have and which version of RS Production you are running.
There are a lot of settings and configurations that can be changed in order to personalize RS Production to suit your specific needs.
Settings can either be factory specific or you can choose to change settings for specific measure points.
The first thing you will probably want to do is to add more reason codes, so click “Stop handling” and let’s have a look on how to do that.
Creating a new reason code
Click “3.3 Edit stop reasons”, this will open a new window.
To add a new reason code, click the button that says “Create reason”, give the reason code a name, a color and then press save and close.
Select the folder you want to place the reason code in, “Default folder” is the pre-configured standard folder, then click the reason code you want to place in the folder.
Great job, you have now created and connected a reason code.
